A revolution has recently started in the girls’ magazine industry. In May 2012, a young girl named Julia Bluhm gathered petition signatures and led a protest in front of the headquarters of “Seventeen” magazine. Through the petitions and protest, Bluhm had asked the magazine to display at least one spread of unaltered models every month. From being frequently exposed to manipulated images, many young girls believe there is an ideal image every female should have.
Recently, in the August issue of “Seventeen”, the editor-in-chief, Ann Shoket, promised that all of the images in the magazine will never be edited again!
Now, there is a petition calling for “Teen Vogue” magazine to follow in Seventeen’s footsteps. Sign this petition today to celebrate beauty in all of its form: www.change.org/petitions/teen-vogue-give-us-images-of-real-girls
